Sims Road Waterway Access
This project will enhance the Sims Road waterway access point, a key discharge location for the Leaf River. Improvements will include the reconstruction of the existing ramp to meet standard slope specifications, as well as the addition of three pavilion picnic areas. The project will also create designated parking spaces for vehicles and trailers, and install boat and kayak launches adaptable to varying water levels. An ADA-accessible pathway to the water and a cleared landing area for fishing enthusiasts will further enhance accessibility and usability of the space.
Upon completion, this upgraded access point will serve as the gateway to a 9.6-mile stretch known as the Middle Leaf Route, part of the Pinebelt Blueways, enhancing recreational opportunities along this scenic waterway.
Project Cost: $450,000
