Midtown Green

Midtown Green, a 4.2-acre park positioned off Crestmont Avenue, is designed to be a vibrant community hub offering a variety of recreational facilities. Planned features for the park include:
- A well-lit walking trail
- Exercise stations
- A small performance stage
- An all-inclusive playground designed to accommodate children of all abilities
- Picnic areas
- Site furniture
- Convenient parking, supplemented by additional overflow parking provided by University Baptist Church
A highlight of the park is the all-inclusive playground, the first in the city, made possible through specific funding from Jennifer, Abb, & WA Payne via the Pinebelt Foundation. This playground will enable children of all abilities to play and develop physical, cognitive, social and sensory skills. Special recognition goes to both the Payne Family and The Arc Southeast Mississippi for their critical support in this endeavor.
The total construction cost for Midtown Green is estimated at approximately $1.4 million. Funding sources include a $500,000 grant from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife & Fisheries, revenues from a 1-cent hotel/restaurant tax allocated for Parks & Recreation, Forrest County Board of Supervisors and additional private contributions through the Pinebelt Foundation. This collective investment underscores a strong community commitment to enhancing recreational opportunities for all residents.
